Preheat your air fryer to around 375°F (190°C). This ensures that your grilled cheese will cook evenly.

2. Butter the Bread (Optional)

If you prefer a classic grilled cheese with a buttery exterior, spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each bread slice. Alternatively, you can use a cooking spray to cut down on added fats.

3. Build the Sandwich

Place the cheese between two slices of bread, with the buttered side facing outward (if using butter).

4. Preheat the Air Fryer Basket

Place the empty air fryer basket in the preheated air fryer for about 1-2 minutes. This helps the bottom of the grilled cheese crisp up faster.

5. Place the Sandwich in the Air Fryer

Carefully place the assembled sandwich in the preheated air fryer basket. If your air fryer has a non-stick coating, you may not need parchment paper, but it can help prevent sticking.

6. Air Fry

Cook the grilled cheese for about 5-7 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time. The exact time may vary depending on your air fryer model, so keep an eye on the sandwich to avoid burning.

7. Check for Doneness

The grilled cheese is done when the bread is golden brown, and the cheese is melted and gooey. Adjust the cooking time if needed.
